Meet Manuela Guevara, AEDC Program Manager
Welcome to the team, Manuela! Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Manuela joined AEDC just over two months ago. Get to know what Manuela’s new role entails and help us welcome her, her husband and kids to the Queen City!
How long have you been at AEDC?
Two months now.
What is your role at AEDC and what are you enjoying most about your new role and responsibilities?
I’m a Program Manager coordinating the Recompete Strategy and Implementation Grants. What I’m enjoying the most about my role is getting to know both Allentown and its people—not just on the surface, but in a deeper, more meaningful way, right away. I am challenged by the goal and by the potential of this program, which keeps me moving and that is exciting.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
The partnership based, human centered design of this project, and how those components allow me to work on the big picture and on the small details at the same time. Definitely not monotonous.
What made you want to work for AEDC?
Apart from the role itself, the small and great team I met before joining helped me decide towards taking this job.
Is there anything people don’t understand about your job that you wish they did?
I wish someone knew what the Recompete word means.
Tell us a little bit about your background, family life, interests, hobbies, etc.
I am from the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and came here with my family 2 years ago. I love talking about almost any issue, I love sports, playing them, watching them. I enjoy being outdoors, walking around, discovering new places or spots to have a coffee. I like to sing out loud and dance with my kids because they come up with very funny movements.
What is the best piece of advice someone has given you?
Do not take anything personal, be your best, and the rest will come.
