Founded in 1979, Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that champions manufacturing in the City of Allentown. AEDC is committed to proactively identify, encourage, manage and develop strategic business opportunities for the benefit of Allentown, its citizens, and the Lehigh Valley. AEDC is comprised of Bridgeworks Enterprise Center, Urban Made, and Urban Sites Programs, three core initiatives that allow us to help businesses grow, receive the support they need, and eventually find a home in Allentown. Our offices are located in a former Mack Truck Plant in South Allentown, which is now home to the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center, Lehigh Valley’s only manufacturing business incubator.
Job Role:
AEDC is seeking a dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our staff of 7 employees. AEDC manages more than 1.7 million square feet of buildings, and the position will assist with day-to-day operations at several of the facilities throughout the Allentown area. This role requires an employee who is adaptable, flexible, and operates well under pressure. No day is ever the same (or boring) at AEDC and our facilities team members “wear many different hats”! Hours are typically 7:30 am-4 pm.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in property management or basic building maintenance, and/or a specific construction trade such as a carpenter, electrician, HVAC, etc., is preferred.
- Must be comfortable with technology.
- Must be a self-starter and capable of performing in a team environment.
- Must have a positive attitude and be comfortable interacting with multiple tenants’ and clients’ requests on a regular basis.
- Must be unafraid of getting dirty!
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a current Driver’s License.
- Must be reliable and responsible.
- Must be available during inclement weather. (Occasional overnight required.)
